This is Firewinder a helical wind turbine fitted with LED’s at the periphery of its blades. The effect is stunning – the video cannot really do it justice.
It is made by a company by the name of Firewinder: http://www.firewinder.com where you can find further information including more videos of the device in action.
Overall light out put while small is more then adequate to see around in immediate vicinity – and perfectly in keeping with the less is more ethic of Vorovoro
Joe Wadsworth, managing director of Firewinder has very kindly donated one for Vorovoro. At this time it awaits transport to Fiji and is [sadly] sitting in it’s packaging at my home.
I shall be off out again to Vorovoro this August. If however anyone from UK is Vorovoro bound prior to then and is able to take it out there (weight 2.5Kg) please get in touch so that it can be on the island sooner.

The Firewinder is now on it’s way to Vorovoro courtesy of Senga. Expected arrival 1st week of May.
Lets have some video of it in operation in the Hammocks area. Iam sure the guys at Firewinder would be thrilled to bits to see that
