Tribewanted Today
Since its dramatic first year on Vorovoro, the Tribewanted project has grown into what is now locally recognised as a new model for responsible tourism .
Over 800 tribe members, as well as 25 elected chiefs , have now visited Vorovoro, whilst our online tribe has swelled to over 10,000. More than $800,000fj has been invested into the local economy in Northern Fiji, creating employment for up to 150 people with 20 full time jobs. Get to know ‘team Fiji’ through the infamous Hammock Society interviews.
In 2008 Tribewanted beat myspace to win best social network at the UK’s broadcast media awards and was long-listed for an international Responsible Tourism Award .
Tui Mali , Vorovoro’s landowner and chief, has invited Tribewanted to stay on beyond the initial three years lease, to support longer term sustainable development in the wider community. A renewal of the island lease is currently being negotiated.
Beyond Vorovoro, Tribewanted is now also running adventurous journeys (Vitika in Fiji & Andina in Peru ) and mobile events, and plans to launch its next community project in 2009.

As many are aware, we’ve been watching paradise or bust in fiji and although it focuses on the challenges of the first year, its fantastic to see how the project has flourished since…let’s hope more australians make the journey to vorovoro. Amazing to see the transition of tribewanted from then to now, too.
Mat from oz here. Have just started watching, and it is so inspiring to see. I hope to soon join the tribe and come over in the near future, hope all is going well for you all. Not only are you helping the local area, the environment but you are also uniting the people of the world. Well done. mat
I only wish I knew about this 2 years ago. So impressed with what has been achieved and can’t wait to come and help out and meet some of the people. congrats tribe, let’s hope this kind of thinking becomes infectious!!!
Hi! I’ve programmed Foxtel to record the series link for paradise or bust, I love the idea concept and would very much consider coming to voravora. I’m looking forward to going through the website to see how far you have come now – next week’s episode will show us the military saying they are coming to shut it down – looks pretty frightful! But you have obviously come a long way!! Cheers Jess :)
Hi All, I discovered the program last week and love what you guys are doing over there, even my kids are enthralled and want to come visit too. I think I just might have to take a test trip first!
How bad is the wet in January? Does it tend to be more of a once a day downpour or an all day event?
