Travelers Insurance and health care around Vorovoro

For anyone traveling around the world, traveler’s insurance is highly recommended.

For visiting Vorovoro, traveler’s insurance should be sure to cover all evacuation fees, both from Vorovoro to the nearest hospital, as well as from Fiji to Australia or New Zealand.

On Vorovoro, the Tribewanted staff is trained in basic medical response. The island is equipped with several medical kits for emergencies. There are also phones on the island that can be used for phoning the mainland in case of a medical emergency.

The Labasa Hospital is a 20 to 30 minute boat ride from Vorovoro. The hospital is equipped to handle most common diseases and emergencies. Labasa is also home to several private physicians who can diagnose colds and prescribe medicine.

Suva, the capital of Fiji, is approximately a 1 hour flight to Viti Levu, the largest island of Fiji. Suva hospital is equipped to handle a wider-scale of medical situations than Labasa.

Fijian medical facilities are equipped to provide safe and healthy medical attention. On rare occasions, however, very specialized medical attention is required. In these cases, the hospitals of New Zealand and Australia are the closest hospitals that can provide specialized attention.

Medical service in Fiji is very affordable. A doctor’s visit plus prescription for a fever will cost less than $20 FJD. However, exposure to nature on Vorovoro is greater than most of us experience on a daily basis and accidents can happen. The cost of traveler’s insurance is a small price to pay to guarantee that your trip to Vorovoro is both fun, safe, and healthy.
