Jade’s Chief Manifesto!
VOTE for Jade
Why would you like to be Chief?
Coming to Vorovoro as a tribe member, I immediately fell in love with the place – the greeting “welcome home” resounded in my ears, and I really felt it. It’s hard to describe what makes Vorovoro such an amazing place, but I think it starts with the friendliness, of team Fiji, the tribe itself, Tui Mali, and everyone else from the neighbouring villages. It’s the sound of the waves, a constant backdrop to the daily activities, the activities themselves – whether that’s catching fish, cooking dinners, building bures, relaxing in the hammocks, or drinking kava. There are the friendly welcomes, the emotional goodbyes, and then, are the amazing sunsets, lighting up the sky and giving everything a reddish glow – there is nowhere else in the world that I would rather be.
So why do I want to be chief? Because I love this place, because I am not ready for my own emotional goodbye just yet. Because when I am back in England, looking through the rain at miserable faces – I want to look back on my friendly island paradise and know, I left my mark there, I made a difference – and we had fun doing it!
What makes you the right person for the job?
I have a massive amount of enthusiasm for Tribewanted as a project, new ideas for changes and improvements based on the experience of being a tribe member for 3 weeks already, a desire to make a difference here at the same time continuing the friendly and relaxed atmosphere of the island, and, (most importantly of course) I have the strength and stamina needed to be head of the grog mat!
What do you want to achieve while on the Island?
Firstly, it will shock many of you to hear that the famous ‘Hammock Society’ of the island has fallen into disrepair! I will make a firm commitment to you – the voters, to repair, rebrand, and fully re-instate the hammock society! Giving the hammocks a face-lift, and bringing the society into the modern age with new signs, repairs and a review of the membership policy!
Island maintenance will be another priority, with the now overgrown Tanoa Park to be cleared and prepared for a re-opening celebratory tournament, as well as the possibility of extending the football posts to make the pitch a dual football and rugby pitch as to get the best use out of the space (rugby is what Fiji is famous for after all!)
Tell us something interesting about yourself
I’m in the middle of a round the world trip visiting the USA, Fiji, NZ, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand; and was only meant to spend 6 days in Fiji! Now been here for 4 weeks and counting, and loving every second of it! When I do finally make it back to England, I’m going to study Law at Manchester Uni.
In 1 Sentence, why should the tribe select you Chief?
Because the Hammock society needs a saviour!

Hi Jadi, so glad you’re still there and loving it! Extra pleased you’re putting in for chief – bringing a bit of Coventry joy to Fiji (joke!) Best of luck, give everyone all my love, I miss them all terribly!

Hi Jade
I support you as chief as I agree with a lot of what you say in your manifesto. During my four weeks on the island I spent a lot of my time in the hammocks for a variety of reasons so I know what you mean about the hammocks they did look a little tired and in need of a refit. I am sure you will leave your mark there good luck.

Oi oi… what’s all this Hammock Society rebranding nonsense. And reviewing the membership policy…. dear oh dear. Chill out don’t work out is its mantra. All those who choose to exercise are automatically banned and may be subject to a frog bombing. Good luck with face lift… Vorovoro without hammocks is like a church without an alter.
Jim
Original President of the Hammock Society
PS Jadi… Ben was issued the famous red card and banned in July 2008. Keep an eye on him…
