Talanoa Ni Tribewanted Vorovoro

James Kerridge By Jimbo, , Posted 04 Sep 2009

Another creation from the Kerridge stables in cahoots with some of the talented tribe members that have visited Vorovoro in the last few months.

This piece illustrates the achievements of Tribewanted in its first three years from the first footers to Team Fiji visiting the UK. Pieces were made from materials found on the island ranging from beer bottle tops to coconut husks. It was presented to Tui Mali at the 3rd year anniverary.* Big thanks to all those involved, especially Lisa Nairi and Charlotte Cline for putting up with my high standards. I know I can be a pain in the arse.

*During the ceremony the wind blew and the artwork fell! ...resulting in the Grand Bure falling off – it has been glued back on but it makes me wonder was this a premonition… ooooooo spooooky.

This is truly fantastic, Grumpy. The island will surely miss it’s Creative Directorship… but what a legacy to leave behind. Vina’a na talanoa! xx

I’ll give the hammock society one thing – they may not be able to break records, climb mountains, or swim oceans – but they sure can colour in nicely. Did they all do geography at A level? Damn fine colouring in Timoci. Nice tunes too. Vina’a na talanoa levu.

Nice one Mr. Kerridge, I know this took a vvvery l o n g time to make and all the time, sweat and design consulting has paid off! An amazing piece of creativity reflecting the 3 years and a beautiful masterpiece and legacy.

I think my favourite parts are the egg, pigs and biodiversity. And maybe the pink trainer ;) Ooh and especially the writing at the top…whoever collected all the shells, pebbles and glass must have had a lot of patience!!!

Enjoy your last month or so and get a few last bits of creativity out of you! I have saved you in a little space on the showers to do an orange fish with blue eyes. You will find the mosaic bits in the Sustainability hut and the grout in the tool shed :)
