Last week we had a forum on Vorovoro about whether the role of Tribewanted on-island chief should carry on into the forurth year. After contributions from tribe members, team fiji and tribewanted team the vote was unanimous.

We have had 34 elected chiefs in the last three years. Team Fiji said that they were a strong link between the visiting tribe and permanent community. Tribewanted team said they helped by bringing energy and new skills as well an extra pair of hands. Tribe members said that they found the chief to be the face of the community who could guide them on etiquette as well as what was going on. All agreed that the chief was the cultural link that meant the project had continuity and drive. The only real concern about chiefs is that it is sometimes hard to find them as organising island time based on voting can be difficult.

27 of those that the island forum voted YES we should keep with the elected monthly chiefs and there was 1 abstention
