Tribewanted Dream Foundation

Tribewanted is an eco-community project spanning continents, cultures, and the digital divide. Through the project on Vorovoro, Tribewanted is seeking to make a positive difference in the lives of Tribe members than can be applied both individually and globally.
Tribewanted has a sister, not-for-profit foundation that seeks to extend the goals of Tribewanted by making a positive and physically tangible difference, especially with the communities that Tribewanted touches.
The Tribewanted Dream Foundation is governed by a group of experienced trustees and is autonomous from Tribewanted. Although the Dream Foundation is in its infancy, it already has a strong track record of both raising money and achieving its goals.
The Dream Foundations first project of raising $4000 for the electrical wiring of the local Mali Elementary School was successfully completed in the summer of 2007.
What are we about?
“As you all know that most of us are unemployed and we cant find the money for these projects anyhow. We have to sweat and it is difficult for us to meet our family needs” Kesiano Rokocika, Vesi Village.
The TribeWanted Dream Foundation has been set-up to enable the long-term sustainable ecological and economic development of Mali province for its people.
The TribeWanted Dream Foundation wants to look at two main areas to support the people of Mali:- To develop the economy of Mali District by providing sustainable income and employment opportunities for the local community.
- To facilitate the ecological management of the physical environment in the short and long term to ensure the community remains.
The trustees were elected in the spring of 2007 and are now in the process of registering the organisation with the charity commission in the UK.
So what does this mean in practice?
“As we all know that the climate has changed which causes the sea water to rise. Before some places in Vesi the seawater didn’t reach but now it does. So that is why we need a jetty to be 3 metres high to control the incoming seawater”.
We spent a month in Vorovoro travelling around Mali Province talking to the people in the villages and these are the key things that we have agreed that we are going to help them to achieve:
- To improve the health and wellbeing of the community of Mali province.
- To faciilate training and skills development for the community to enable the sustained growth of the economy and ecology.
- To support children and young people to fulfil their potential.
- To promote and sustain the culture and heritage of Mali province.
What have we done?
The TribeWanted Dream Foundation has already helped raise the funds to re-wire the Mali District Primary School. This not only allows local children aged between 5-11 to learn how to use computers, but also means that the community can also run classes and a whole host of other activities at the school during the evening.

Next projects
The TribeWanted Dream Foundation currently needs to raise £30,000.
This will to help with the first phase of projects, and allow us to:
- To provide professional advice to look at the potential to construct seawalls for three villages.
- Rising sea levels mean that many of these communities are at much higher risk of flooding – a seawall would provide a way to preserve livelihoods.
Cost: £9500 tbc. - Provide water tanks for two villages.
This will give the local people a regular supply of fresh drinking water.
Cost: £8000 - Provide composting toilets for three villages.
This will provide safe and sanitary toilets for two communities of 50-100 people.
Cost: £2000 - Construct a community hall.
This will provide a community space for 100 people it will be used for local groups, enterprises, families to meet, work and better support their needs.
Cost: £10500
