VOROVORO WAVU

The Vorovoro Wavu will be an extension of the current ‘gapper’ role. ‘Wavu’ means bridge and this is exactly what we need from this person – to provide the on-island social bridge between visiting tribe members, elected chief and on-island team and family. This is much more than a compost cleaning role now…its a front-of-beach, cross-cultural islander. Here is the criteria for the current stage of the project. If you think you’ve got what it takes email us why today.

Each Vorovoro Wavu works for four months on Vorovoro and in return receives bed and board and weekly allowance of $100. If you would like to be the next Vorovoro Wavu please send a relevant CV, a picture of you in action, and a short summary of why you’re the person for the job to island@tribewanted.com Webcasts also welcome.

Start date: Anytime in September 2008

Vorovoro Wavu Role

  • To support the electe chief, team Fiji, Tribewanted team and family
  • To imrpove the sustainability of the food cycle on Vorovoro, focusing on the kitchen
  • To improve the management of the tool shed with Team Fiji
  • To get tribe members involved with and lead island project and activities (4 peaks, reef trips etc..)
  • To run the weekly school trip to Mali and education programme

What kind of person makes a great Vorovoro Wavu?

  • Hard working, lots of initiative and energy, not afraid to get hands dirty
  • Experience in food sustainability and management will be a bonus
  • Great with all kinds of people, different ages, nationalities and backgrounds. Easy going!
  • Ideally someone who has already visited Vorovoro
  • Strong first aider and calm under pressure

Message for Ben

I’ve joined as a free memeber simply to say how impressed I am with your achievements on the island (all based on the TV series, and your interview on Radio 1). Congratulations!
