Survival International

Survival_medium

Tribewanted is happy to announce our partnership with Survival International to help support and protect native and indigenous tribes around the world. Tribewanted members can participate in the movement when joining Tribewanted or from their user profile.

Survival is the only international organisation supporting tribal peoples worldwide. From Brazil to Siberia, these unique but vulnerable communities are all too often desperately struggling for their land, their livelihoods and their very existence. Oil exploration, government oppression, mining, missionaries and many other threats are continually putting these peoples in danger. With supporters in 82 countries, Survival Int. works for tribal peoples’ rights in three complementary ways: education, advocacy and campaigns.

Tribewanted has joined the movement to stand up for tribal peoples who may otherwise be entirely wiped out. We ask all Tribewanted members to get involved and support us in making sure that tribes the world over get the rights and respect they deserve.

Ecotricity

“Not everyone realises the burning of fossil fuels to make electricity is damaging our environment. In fact, it is the single biggest cause of climate change in our country today, responsible for 30% of our CO2 emissions.

Ecotricity is an electricity company with a difference – we’re dedicated to changing the way electricity is made. We take the money our customers spend on electricity and invest it in clean forms of power like wind energy. What’s more, we’re the only green electricity company actually building these new renewable energy sources. This year alone we’re investing £25 million in wind energy.

We’ve been building wind turbines and selling electricity across the country since 1996. We supply people like the Body Shop and Co-operative Bank and are proud to be recommended by the Soil Association and WWF.

The other thing that not many people realise is that we can now all choose who supplies our electricity, and therefore how it’s made, so wherever you live in the country you can actually choose to have your home or business supplied by clean energy. The funny thing is switching takes about five minutes but it’s the biggest single step you can take to reduce your emissions and protect the environment.

I hope you’ll join us.”

Dale Vince OBE, Ecotricity founder

Oceanic Communications

Oceanic_rgb_medium

As the Pacific region’s top integrated advertising and marketing agency, Oceanic Communications helps support the Tribewanted brand on the ground in Fiji. There’s a great opportunity for marketing Tribewanted domestically and Oceanic has had the opportunity to develop concepts and ideas to support the online and offline efforts of the project. They’ve also introduced and helped set up the Vodafone partnership bringing the first online communications to Vorovoro.

Jonathan Segal, president and CEO of Oceanic, says “Brochures made from acid-free, recycled paper are simply not the most common requests we get in Fiji so when Ben comes to us, we know we’ll be working on some cool stuff. Oceanic is massively grateful to play a role here and build upon what’s very much been a responsible and inspiring brand from the beginning. All of us at Oceanic believe Fiji needs more worlds like the one that Tribewanted is building.”

Climate Care

A low-carbon future needn’t mean the end of fun, but it does mean some gutsy choices and a spirit of collective action to keep the planet beautiful – and inhabitable. It is just these challenges that the Tribe will have to face as Vorovoro evolves. Climate Care is excited to join the team as its Climate Advisor. A not-for-profit company, we help individuals and organisations to work out their impact on the climate and “offset” this through funding sustainable energy and rainforest restoration projects.

Climate Care specializes in projects that not only reduce emissions, but bring benefits to communities in the developing world.

The Fiji Island Visitors Bureau (FVB)

Gfx-team-fivb_medium

“The Fiji Visitors Bureau is extremely excited to be supporting Tribewanted’s ground-breaking project off the north coast of Vanua Levu. Fiji is the perfect destination for this social and environmental adventure and we know how excited the people of the Mali district are about Tribewanted. We will be providing tribe members with information about Fiji, its culture, climate, people and, of course, its islands.

Tribewanted is going to play an important part in two of our core aims at the FVB: To alleviate poverty and to generate sustainable tourism in rural areas. This is fantastic! The whole of Fiji is buzzing with excitement at the prospect of Tribewanted starting in September – this will be an historic moment for Fiji and, we hope, for fairly traded tourism.”

“From the moment the guys got in touch with us about the project we knew it was something amazingly exciting. On the day we launched it to the media the phones did not stop ringing and over two weeks later when we were still getting calls from media in the likes of China and Australia we knew this was something special. We are proud to have played the role we have and now consider ourselves to be friends of the tribe.”

UCL - Environmental Engineers

Picture_6_medium

“We’re the team from University College London (UCL) working with Tribewanted to develop a sustainability plan. The Tribewanted project is all about creating a sustainable eco-community and enjoyable tourist destination. The aim of the sustainability plan is to help Tribewanted make the “Green Dream” a reality. The plan will provide guidance on all aspects of the Vorovoro community development, applying best practice research which embraces the Tribes core values and the ideas of its members. The UCL Team is composed of five post-graduate students from a variety of backgrounds, connected by our commitment to environmental sustainability. This plan forms part of the MSc in Environmental Systems Engineering programme at UCL.

Vorovoro Island is a real opportunity to implement leading edge environmental practices and leave a legacy of sustainability for the local community. We are looking forward to working with Tribe Members to design systems which will allow them to tread lightly on the island while enjoying a unique travel experience”
