"I cannot wait to go back to Vorovoro and see everyone again" - (July 07)

In one sentence, describe your experience on Vorovoro
I was nervous about going to the island initially, but during my 3 week stay I met so many lovely people, had an amazing time which I will never forget and when it came to leaving, I even jumped out of the boat mid-motion as I wasn’t quite ready to leave…... Vorovoro has that wonderful effect on people!!
What was the highlight/favourite moment of your stay?
Staying up all night and waiting for the sunset on my last night on Vorovoro, with Laura, Tale and Ron is definitely up there in the most memorable moments.
I have a few other moments from the island which stick in my mind including:
- going to church with Poasa and Francis was definitely one of my favourite parts of my experience on Vorovoro. They’re the most welcoming family one could ever wish to meet and I cannot wait to go back to Vorovoro and see everyone again.
- visiting Mali District School – the children there are so amazing, they have this lovely way about them and I loved meeting all of them;
- having the chance to learn and perform the meke was very exciting, albeit slightly embarrassing as I think I did it all wrong on the big day;
- being there when the electricity was turned on was exciting too as I think it was a big step for the island. I didn’t get a chance to experience the real impact of the electricty but when i next go back, i will be able to see the differences it has made.

Stephanie, the electrical wiring of the kitchen and the dining area that John Wright did is amazing! You’ve got to come back! Eating dinner under the stars is incredible, but it’s even more revolutionary when you can see your food ;-)
Good write-up, and I’ll be looking to see you on the documentary!
