Green Summer Camp
After our success working with the Green School’s Earthbound program last October, we’re excited to offer children and teenagers, from 8-18, and their families, the opportunity to experience a hands on learning experience on our Umbrian farm while enjoying the beauty of the Italian countryside this summer.
For one week - Saturday 19 August to Saturday 26 August - Monestevole will be transformed into a dedicated Green Summer Camp!
During the week, the students will take part in morning activities designed to educate them about sustainability and permaculture in a fun and interactive way. They’ll help us to take care of our permaculture gardens, plant trees, harvest food for the kitchen, and feed and take care of the animals, and will learn how to apply these skills to gardening in much smaller spaces in special Urban Gardening sessions. We will also have some dedicated spaces to look energy sustainability, water and product cycles, using Monestevole as a real life example of how a community can be self sufficient.
In the afternoons we will arrange more informal optional activities such as walks, wild swimming in a local lake, building a bonfire for that evening, nature art, outdoor games, and helping to make fresh pasta and preserves in our Italian kitchen!
Younger students (age 8-12) will have to come with parents and will have two 2-hour sessions per day with the Monestevole team, while older students (age 13-18) are welcome both with their family and on their own and will have an additional 2-hour session in the morning.
The two groups will have a dedicated teacher and also work together on specific projects
The course will be mainly held in English but Italian, German and French translation is available for students.
