Spending your Gap Year with Tribewanted on Vorovoro
Be a member of a real-world community

“Unfortunately for me I wasn’t to know how just one week on Vorovoro would be painfully and frustratingly to short. There’s no travel agent to tell you of the addictive nature of the island, and even if there was I doubt articulating the feeling i have now would be an easy, if at all possible task.” Tom Howe : Vorovoro vs. Beachcomber
Tribewanted isn’t a single, pre-planned, scripted experience. It’s different for every member who participates. That’s what makes it so unique.
Who are the members?
Visitors come to Fiji, but members come to Vorovoro. Everyone on Vorovoro is a member of the Tribewanted community.
Tribewanted is a dynamic, growing community governed online and experienced on-island. Members are full-fledged Tribal citizens, not tourists and not spectators. Members are part of the Vorovoro family.
Tribewanted member; community member; family member.
This membership is what makes Tribewanted both unique and relevant. Why look at fish in an aquarium when you can swim with them ? Why study a culture when you can immerse yourself in it ? Tribewanted offers what no other gap year experience offers – the chance for you to make of your experience exactly what you want.
Looking for private time for introspection? Poetry writing? Artistic musing? Soul searching? It’s easy to find inspiration on Vorovoro.
Want to meet other people? From different cultures? From different backgrounds? From different generations? You’ll find over 36 countries and four generations represented in Tribewanted’s worldwide membership. Looking for a soulmate? We’re not making any promises, but it has happened before!
If you want to remember your gap year as spent napping in a hammock under a palm tree, Vorovoro is prime real estate. And if you want something more, the opportunities with Tribewanted are as limitless as they are unique.
Make the most of your Gap Year

The freedom of life on Vorovoro lets members explore interests and skills they wouldn’t be able to otherwise.
Freedom to create, opportunities to experience
Yearning for the rural life? Vorovoro has gardens to plant and harvest, chickens and pigs to feed, buildings to construct, fires to burn, songs to sing, and grog to drink. Interested in arts and crafts? From the creative recycling projects on the island to traditional weaving and dancing, the whole island is a massive art project.
Want to get your hands dirty? There are plumbing projects, electrical projects, cooking projects, mechanical projects, free diving fishing projects, and more. All of these unique opportunities are at your fingertips on Vorovoro.
You make the difference on Vorovoro
“Since the day I left Vorovoro, parts of me have been left behind. The first part being the person I was before I arrived- scared of the world, in a way scared of myself. The second part being some of my heart.” Aileen Cox : A good old babble…
Your experiences on Vorovoro transcend your gap year. For every experience you take from Vorovoro, you leave the same experience behind. Being immersed in the Tribe, everything you do is shared. Your presence on Vorovoro does make a difference. It does influence people, and it can change lives. It can even change your own.
Belonging to something larger than yourself
As a Tribewanted member, you are part of a larger experience: the Tribewanted project. Your access to this experience isn’t limited to just your time in Fiji, but open from the date you join for forever.
The legacy you leave on the island is not soon forgotten. On Vorovoro, Tribe members are not guests logged in a register, but are lively members of the Vorovoro family. Their names appear in stories told around the grog bowl, their memories are attached to the different, growing projects on the island. Their influence is remembered by the children on the island.
On-island and Online
Tribewanted experiences are not limited to time on Vorovoro, however. Staying connected digitally is a large part of the experience. Tribewanted.com is a fully developed online social network used to connect Tribewanted members online, on-island, locally, and globally. Meet other members before arriving on Vorovoro. Keep in touch with the Vorovoro family after your departure. Vote on topics important to the development of the community. Organize and participate in Tribal Gatherings around the world. Plan your return to Vorovoro. Tribewanted.com turns a gap year experience into a life-long relationship.
