• Monestevole

Perched on a ridge on over forty five hectares of stunning Umbrian countryside, this 15th century hamlet has been thoughtfully and lovingly transformed into three traditional and sustainable holiday apartments. Passing through many hands over the years - including over fifty residents at one time - the hamlet was abandoned in the 1960s and resurrected in 2013, when Tribewanted Monestevole restructured it into a model sustainable community, and a fully fitted, eco-lux vacation rentals.

Celebrating and preserving the best of traditional Umbrian living and providing a beautiful, rejuvenating and inspiring experience, our three apartments are designed with stylish simplicity and comforts, each restored with their original historic stone and wood beamed features intact and simple rustic design.

We welcome guests and families from all over the world. The entire property, sleeping up to 20, is available for large groups and workshops.

  • During Your Stay

During your stay, you have the opportunity to glimpse a way of life that’s been unchanged for centuries, from farming to wine and olive making, home made breads and pastas, to carpentry and artisanal skills.

We have horses, goats, a sheep, pigs, ducks, chickens, dogs, cats and even an albino peacock at Monestevole. Kids and families are welcomed to come feed the animals with us in the morning and collect eggs!

Sustainable technologies are part of daily life here. Our energy comes from photovoltaic solar panels, our water is heated by thermal solar, we harvest rain water to irrigate the fields and flush the toilets and we recycle gray-black water in our living filtration system. Our pool is cleaned with salt. In the winter, our heating is powered by a wood-burning stove. We are constantly working to improve the structure with renewable energies, recycling, water treatment, compost, permaculture and green architecture.

Additonal services available on request include a local, private chef for some or all of your meals,
