People

Tribewanted is about people and what they can accomplish when they rally around a common goal. What is great is that those who participate can do so at their own level, whether it's full time, volunteer based, for one week or one month, and from the island, from their computer, or from a hammock on the beach.

Bula sia Tribe

So what has been happening on sunny, rainy, sunny Vorovoro?

Monday we were excited to welcome 6 new tribe members onto the island, bringing much laughter, camp fires and a fancy dress party with a sustainable theme – costumes had to be made from natural materials found on the island. There were banana leaf butterflies, woven leaf crowns and coconut bras. An island party wouldn’t be an island party without these coconut accompaniments.

Tuesdays Sevusevu passed without a hitch and the village was looking beautiful after all the hard work the tribe put in …

Responsible and fairly traded tourism at Tribewanted

Ben Keene By bengazi, Vorovoro, Fiji Posted 28 Oct 2009

Fair trade is an attempt to slow down economic activity to match the pace of culture; it is commerce with a conscience. For those of us who travel, it doesn’t take long to realize that the resilience of culture will wear thin and eventually break when it is made to conform to the speed of commerce.

We must ask, in the words of Barack Obama “not only is this profitable, but is it right?”

At Tribewanted we aim to maintain economic growth for ourselves and the local community without sacrificing the fundamental rights, dignity, and health of the …

Well what can you say about Vorovoro that hasn’t already been documented by so many like-minded people? Well, nothing, that’s the simple answer, because Vorovoro leaves you completely speechless.

But here is my story nonetheless…

I went through a slightly different route to get onboard with Tribewanted and that was through Feejee Experience, who offer a trip called the ‘Tribal Loop’. What an incredible experience. You are driven around Viti Levu (The main island) over a minimum of four days, I only took the four day option due to time constrains. The guide (Cam) taught us a lot …
