Just been to collect my Visa.

I’m getting really excited now – 4 weeks on Friday, and I have passport, visa and yellow fever certificate!

I’ll be really concentrating on the packing now….toilet roll, germolene, plasters…. Oh, and clothes!

I have my letter of invitation and a promise that I’ll be met at the airport. It’s still a long way off, but preparations are almost complete.

I need to book in for my vaccinations in October, but my flights and insurance are sorted. And I’ve got my tent.

Just finished reading Ishmael Beah’s account of trying to escape the war in Sierra Leone.

The child soldiers appear to have been turned into little more than bloodthirsty savages, but Ishmael has come through the experience and now works to try to prevent similar atrocities anywhere in the world.
