What Defines "Home" ?

For me, modern day nomad that I am – by circumstance growing up and by choice(?)/habit as an adult – the definition is simple:

“Home” is a feeling that I experience when I am somewhere where my presence adds joy or comfort and where I feel safe, warm and loved.

Sometimes the feeling of home is felt when I’m simply spending time with a kindred spirit, a friend with whom I share an ease of being.

Sometimes the feeling of home exists – as most people umderstand it – when I’m in a particular place.

I’m in an enviable position at the moment.

Right now I am at home in my brother’s house in Vancouver.

Tonight I go home to Galiano Island where I’ll just wander into the local cafe for a pint and it’ll be full of hello hugs, and also like I’ve never been away.

I have going home to my friends and family in Scotland, Wales, England, Ireland in 10 days time to look forward to.

A little further down the line, I have my homecoming, to Vorovoro, and Fiji, firmly fixed in joyful sight.

I am blessed and I am grateful.

Au sa vakavinavinaka.

Carol
