Post Vorovo - Day 11 - Nadi Day
Boy did I SLEEP – about 10 hours or more perhaps. After a big gobby breakfast of eggs, toast and tomotoes I headed into town.
A cabby offered to take me to town, the temple and the Garden of the Giants. After getting used to the prices in Labasa – Nadi seemed SUPER expensive. Needless to say I bought very little and found myself wishing I had purchased something for my niece from the lady who had a table set up at Labasa airport.
The temple was interesting and very ornate. I decided not to pay to go inside – and then a man told me that if I would not pay I could not take pictures – not even from the ourside. So I walked around and took what pictures I could in stealth mode. The cabby and I both thought it a bit of a scam. I can’t see spending more than 30 minutes there – even if I had paid to go inside.
Then off to the Garden of the Giant – named after the mountains that look like a sleeping giant laying down on his back. Beautiful orchids – and a walk thru rain forest – you could tell in wetter months there would be lots of pretty streams running throughout. The orchids they grow there are amazing and I got a lot of good pictures and will post some here later. I would say the whole walk through would take an hour at the most and cost $12 to get in.
Went to Jack’s – I didn’t really buy much other than a post card and some earrings for my niece – but I heard from many that it was “THE” place to go. Again – crazy prices compared to Labasa. Oh yeah – did buy a bar of coconut soap as one night Moyrah used some as as she walked by Michael and I in the hammock we thought she was the most beautiful smelling thing ever!
I was supposed to get together with Michael the night before for dinner and what not – but when I called his hotel they said they did not have him registered. They did have one person with the same last name – but not the same first name – so I left a note to have him call me here at my hotel when he got in. Oh well – guess I will just have to stalk him in Scotland to get the dinner :)
I ended my afternoon with a full hour body massage. That was just what I needed as I get ready for a couple of very long flights and layover in LAX.
So for now Moce Fiji and remember:
Bula – Dredre – Loloma (Live – Laugh – Love)
I’m still ending “Ciao for now” as I absolutely plan to return – I only hope Tui Mali, Ben and the whole Tribewanted crew are able to keep it going!
Keep watching for more “Post Vorovoro” blogs as I’m sure returning to civilization will be quite the transition.
