Making a bag from plastic bags

On Vorovoro, plastic bags have been recycled into everything from cushions to sock monkeys. Now the circle is complete, as instructions surface on how to create a plastic bag from plastic bags:

The trick is to cut the bags in a way that allows them to be strung together into “plastic yarn,” then to crochet the yarn into the bags. The instructions can be found here:

Now just to source some recycled bamboo crochet needles for making this project!

Hmmm. Just one thing. We cut up lots of bags and weave them together to make a bag… why don’t we just wash them out and leave them as bags?

Excellent design, quite stylish! And Stingers, the bags wear out…this one won’t!!
If we can get these plans to the “ladies of Vorovoro” I am sure that as clever as they are, they will make easy work of this and Pupu can make the bamboo crochet needles, I watched him cut a piece of bamboo into a butter knife in about 1 minute!

yes we should make these on island to carry our groceries, and I still suggest folks all bring a reusable bag for shopping in town – there was WAY too much plastic while I was on the island!

Cheers!
