Almost a year ago Tribewanted and its then Sustainability Manager James Strawbridge donated a brand spanking new rugby kit to the tribes local rugby team – The Mali Sharks. (now known as ‘Tribewanted Mali Sharks)

Many of the team have been, and continue to be employed by Tribewanted, and Vorovoro has hosted many training sessions to the team too.

The team were responsible for clearing the tribal village in the early days (Paradise or Bust ep 1!), and came back to help set up ‘the sharks pool’ (pineapples) and Fruitopia which have frequently been harvested to feed many of the tribes grumbly bellies…....and for all the Sharks’ hard work – they were presented with the new rugby kit.

In June this year the kit got its first outing! and now its time for you to join the elite ranks of being Mali Sharks Supporters and show your gratitude for all there hardwork, buy purchasing your very own unique replica shirt.

For every shirt sold then a donation will be made to the Mali Sharks team. These donations are much needed and will help to cover the costs of the teams transport (the team ferry from Nakawaga), and go toward purchasing new equipment for the team to raise there standard, and hopefully go toward purchasing suitable footwear for the players to help them at competition time.

Some of you may have already seen Captain Api, Marau, and myself in our shirts, now its time to get your hands on your very own shirts!

And on the 2nd birthday of Tribewanted, Project Director Jale was presented with his own personalised shirt, and so too were Tevita and Tui Mali himself!

So now its time to get yours for $130 (FJD)

Please show your support as Tribewanted and Vorovoro make preparations for ‘beyond year 3’.....

Shirts are currently only available to buy ON ISLAND but please pre order as far in advance as possible as it can take up to 3 weeks for delivery. (but please give 3 weeks notice minimum)

Bula Sia Kimbo,
is there any way that Tribe members who have visited the island can purchase one of these shirts, or even have them available on the Tribe Wanted shop alongside of the much reveered book by Ben.
Im sure you would get lots of interest and also help with supporting the rugby team.

yeah thanks jesoni – just the issue of postage costs from Fiji, back to the UK or Rest of world.
if people who have visited the island would like a shirt, then please email me and we can try and sort out the postage costs…

failing that, i should be heading back to england in jan sometime with a relatively empty suitcase so if people can wait that long, then it saves on postage cost!!

Yeah, I almost bought a Fijian rugby shirt on my way through the airport, but I’m glad I didn’t now!

I’d much rather have a Sharks shirt, knowing that some of the money will go directly back to the team

Kimbo have I read right that each shirt costs $130 (US?). It seems very steep to me – why so costly?

Kimbo Laisave By Kimbo Laisave, , Fiji Posted Sep 15, 2008 10:15pm

$130 Fijian dollars. (shirts are sourced and sold in Fiji!)
