New anti-litter campaign success in Labasa!!!!
Tags:
Some of you will remember the post I put up at the beginning of November about the shock and disappointment I felt at seeing passengers simply throw their rubbish out of the window with absolutely no regard for the impact of their actions on the environment.
I had pledged to try and change this, and today I am the bearer of great news!!!
I have for the last 6 weeks or so, been negotiating with the directors of the two largest bus companies operating in Labasa (Parmod Enterprises and Waiqele Buses) to have them trial an anti-litter campaign.
We have to applaud the positive attitude they have had throughout the setting up of this campaign, and they have agreed to front the bill for the printing of a few thousand stickers to put on the back of each bus seat, saying:
“Help keep Fiji’s Streets Clean
Don’t throw rubbish away, BIN IT!”
In addition to this, bin bags will be available to dispose of their rubbish on the buses.
Beyond this, some of the Parmod buses now carry the campaign printed on the outside of their buses (see photo).
I am really excited at the potential impact this campaign will have. Not only on the passengers, but also on other bus companies and who knows, maybe even the government, through the article being published in the Fiji Times this week.

This is brilliant Duncan – congratulations!
Amazing work. I like to think that we all helped lay some foundations for this when we took part in the Labasa “carnival” banging drums and singing no more litter!
Finally! Thats brilliant =)
