vorovoro to the uk in 30 hours!!
howdy from the UK.
first off. its freezing. not melbourne cold. but like 4 degrees cold.
arrived at heathrow and im pretty sure i was the only one in the whole of the Uk on that day wearing thongs(flip-flops) and shorts!!
i left a beautiful, hot, tropical island, where i was living with about 20 people, to coem to London where its freezing and theres 17 million people! its crowded everywhere..
So i left fiji, and brought with me some presents for some of the other tribemembers from the island i was on in fiji – includign a glass of sand from the island for Kimbo – he loved it. it would have taken a month to post things from fiji, so i got them here in about 30 hours!
the train system here – is just confusing. melbourne has 3 underground station. London has about 203 – no joke – then theres all the station ABOVE ground as well as under. crazy.
the language here is a bit different too – heres a quick translation:
1 – “this train will be calling at the following stations. please alight from the first 6 carriages”
"this train will be stopping at the following stations. please get off from the first 6 carriages"
2-flip-flops are what they call thongs.. thongs are underwear. pants are also underwear.
3- neck it – means skull your drink.
the stations(+suburbs) here also have VERY weird names – some of my favourites include:
- Elephant and Castle
- Cockfosters
- Tooting Broadway
- King George
- Shepards Bush
So i caught up with my cousin Lyndon and we spent a few nights at our dad’s cousins house in a really nice place called Carshalton Beeches. We went on a bus tour of the city and saw everything in 1 day which was good. Been to a few museums. Walked around Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square and Liecester Square. Went to a few different pubs with tony too each night, went out with one of his daughters to a club one night – called the Black Sheep – lots of high heels, dark hair, leather – and that was just the guys!! no one has piercings though which was weird..
Then caught the train 2 hours south to where lyndon lives on the coast called Portsmith. Lots of navy and army stuff around. quiet little town. drank way to much saturday night with him and his friends at a few local pubs. very messy night.
Got up early and caught train back into city and met Filiz who i breifly worked at pizza hut with.
she took me to her place – she lives with 11 other aussies! very nice house but.
They had all been on a Monopoly Pub Crawl the night before so we all spent sunday arvo hungover on the couch watching movies.
went to the shops with filiz just to get some fresh air.
today she is working so i had a look around city and sent some postcards – zoe wait till you see yours!! HAHAHA.
flying to egypt tonight via bahrain. looking forward to some warmer weather!!
dont know when ill next be able to email but will try to upload some more photos soon:

Haha, sounds like you’ve got London down to a T!
I love your favourite ‘weird names’ of places – brilliant! Its always good to hear what people think of London, especially when you’ve grown up with the Underground (which still confuses me, I often end up going towards Cockfosters rather than Richmond!), the constantly cold weather and so on!
Have a brilliant time in Egypt, no doubt it will be a lot warmer over there!
Look forward to your next update! :)
It was great meeting up with you in the pub when you came in – great summary of London though – they do talk weird and have goofy names. Even Piccadilly Circus is weird – here, the stations are the names of the streets at which you stop!! Have fun in Egypt and the rest of your travels – and don’t forget to keep practicing the meke!!
