Books to bring to Vorovoro?
Hi all,
So I’m thinking about the books I’ve got to bring to the island… Does anybody know What Tui Mali likes to read?
Also, what level are the children on the island in terms of reading etc. What kind of books are they interested in?
Cheers,
Nigelx

Hey Nigel – the children range from preschool (pre-English) to around 13ish which is pretty much advanced reading stage – so about anything will suffice. I think they are still shy on stuff for the younger kids – and workbooks would always be useful for the older ones. As far as the other book(s) – I’d recommend anything that you like. I brought a Palmistry book and the girls loved it, and this time I brought a surf travel book. Everyone always loves and especially prizes National Geographic Magazines though – especially the ability to see so many different cultures and the wonderful pics in them.
I took Charlotte’s Web. I decided to take it as it was a book that I liked to read as a child. I think that next time I’ll take Chronicles of Narnia, Alice in Wonderland or something like that. The school was short on books for the kindy class, like Walt says.
Hey Walt and Nigel I think a pair of safety boots for mBubu Epeli (the Chainsaw flip flop foreman) might help.

Hi Nigel,
If you want to cater for the younger children as seems to be the need I would recommend anything by Eric Carle. I have always found them enticing and educational for the children i have taught. “Brown bear, Brown bear what do you see” and “Does a Kangaroo have a mother too?” are two favourites
As it may be a while before I get to Vorovoro, does anyone know if books be posted to the Island?
