Vorovoro tides

After a visit to the Gulf of Mexico recently, I was reminded of one of the things I noticed as a 1st footer on Vorovoro – the tide. Suzi and James pitched tents a wee bit closer to the water but none of us tenters were much more than 5 feet above the high tide line headed into the dry season. Vorovoro doesn’t have much wave activity – it’s more a gentle shushing, but the sea does rise (over months, according to tide tables) over 5’ between twice-daily lows & highs. I have a great picture of Poques and Doug discussing the Tribes future at low tide with the Great Bure’s future mangrove rafters (before beating the bark off) exposed. Ask Raina about the pheromone odor.

Interest of maps, detail, etc., is the (Bilbo) Took in me. Can someone on Vorovoro find a sandy place in the ocean to drive a measured bamboo length a couple feet above high tide, and below low tide, with a 2 meter interval? As with the wind turbine, if records were kept, it could provide data specific to Vorovoro, and make me chuckle. I can already hear the Fijians laughing, they know this stuff as a part of their lives. Good ole Fiji time!

To those on-island, remember me especially to Va.

good to hear from you master Kwon, and also Doug in his classic pacific ocean-blue speedos… I’m sure Mr.Katz will pick this up on island.
