okay, continuing with my endorsement of tested eco-products, these soaps (and i prefer the liquid ones) are truely divine. 100% natural, no animal testing, proven over years of use, and fully biodegradable – these soaps also smell terrific, tingle if you prefer the peppermint or tea tree flavors, and gently clean just about everything.

i brought these with me to the island on both my visits, and the sal suds can be used for washing up dishes and also doing laundry. i use it at home for everything, and it’s even better because it’s highly concentrated (so you can dilute! dilute! dilute! right, ezra?) and comes in fully recycled containers.
the bronner family is originally from europe, and the tradition of soap making is a long one for them. they also have upheld a sense of deep social responsibility in their business practice.
but, as with all great products, these really shine because they work and are a pleasure to use. happy sudsing!

I used Dr. Bonner’s while I was on the island and it worked really well – and it is so concentrated that a tiny drop was enough for most of my body and my hair, too!! Thanks, Kaz!
(tea tree is the best!)
ha, i brought the tea trea for tui pepe levu who’d mentioned in his profile he loved all things tea tree. i love the peppermint to wake up and the sweet almond for everything else. you should be able to find it in whole food if not elsewhere in chicago…
One thing to consider is that you don’t always need soap. Too much soap dries your skin and leaves it vunerable. Our oily layer protects us, (this is not an original thought, it comes from homeopathy).
Take care of the essential (private) parts of your body that really need it, and only use soap when and where it is really necessary. Experiment. Bring a nylon wash mitt, they cost nothing now and dry out really well; scrubbing off the dead skin is more important that the use of soap. (so you don’t get zits)
Having lived about 10 years using mostly seawater for 6 months of the year, I have tested my theories!
A dip in the sea when you are hot and sweaty and dry off quickly to remove salt residue, will usually be all you need, most days.
Tea tree oil in any form really helps to combat infection, lavender as well.
