Solar lights that really shine - SolLight!

The results are in, and the solar-powered water bottle lantern and “light ships” that I brought rated high on everyone’s list…SolLight, the company that I posted about previously when I first spotted the genius design of using a water bottle as a lantern to diffuse and focus the light from solar-charged LEDs, donated two additional lanterns and two small lights which could be hung or suctioned onto a surface. And we put them to the test during the month of April.

One of the LightShips was lent out early on to someone in a tent, and then passed along as people needed light down the path on the way to the waterfall. The other one resided in the kitchen, providing much needed light to the ladies after nightfall and then moving to be stuck onto the tin roof above the serving table, so that people could see what they were eating.

The water bottle lights, which have been updated, so that you can just get the LightCap and attach it to a standard Nalgene bottle, did wonders during our observance of Earth Hour in the bure, helping people get settled in the lofts, and one has found a home at the top of the stairs in the composting toilets, for handy late night spider checks and for use in the stalls without lighting.

While wise eco-warriers were concerned that these would be as effective as the usual garden solar lights, we can assure you that if Pupu was clamoring for one of the LightCaps, it’s worth its salt. I gave Pupu my lantern when I left, so there are still two more for the tribe.

I love supporting new and brilliantly designed green products, and this falls into that category. Whether you go camping or not, these are terrific to have around in the trunk of your car, or in your own kitchen…a big vinaka vakalevu to SolLight for supporting our TribeWanted village!

Hi there! Thanks for the solar light water bottle – it was awesome! During my trip one lived in the chief’s bure and the other one lived on the toilet stairs – amazing how bright it was. Such a brilliant idea, I’m going to try and find one for my next camping trip.
