'What is the Tribewanted Dream Foundation'?

We noticed a few days ago on the forum that during an island discussion, some members were asking ‘what is the Dream Foundation’? Taking into account that new people are joining all the time, and our request for volunteers to assist with summer events, we thought this would be a good opportunity to explain a little about who we are and what we hope to achieve.

The Tribewanted Dream Foundation was formed in 2007, as the sister, not-for-profit foundation, to extend the goals of Tribewanted by helping the wider community of Mali.

We spent a month travelling around Mali Provence, talking to the people in the villages to find out exactly what was important to them. Among the many matters discussed; health, sanitation, water, rising sea levels and growth of the economy were of major concern.

Having already completed a successful project to raise $4000 for the electrical wiring of the Mali Elementary School, we are ready to move on to our next projects. These include providing compost toilets for villages, (including one for the school) and water tanks.

Tribewanted members have already shown incredible generosity with their time and money, helping on and off Vorovoro, bringing a wealth of expertise in many different fields. Now we are working more closely with the Tribewanted team who have been a fantastic support. The recent introduction of ‘Dream Foundation Friday’ in Fiji provides members with the opportunity to help out in the Mali community and on various school projects. This also helps to raise awareness of the foundation for which we are most grateful.

Finally, we would like to thank everyone who has contacted us and offered their support for the events at Hampton Court Flower Show and the BBQ in June and July. The response has been brilliant and keeps us motivated to raise as much as we can to assist the Mali people who have already given us so much.
