Aha! I finally found someone who understands why I'm doing this where I am!

I have been going on about the fact that I’m going to Fiji for ages (for ages, read: since I realised that my boss would give me enough leave to actually go!). Everyone at my work has a standard response “That’ll be nice. You’ll get a tan.” followed by turning back to what they’re doing and not enthusing at all. Even when I rang and told my sister, she pretty much did the same thing.
However, now I have managed to find someone who actually appreciates how much I’m looking fowards to this! I was on a run with someone, and my brain tried to defend itself from the excess of involuntary exercise by thinking about the island, and I mentioned it to the person dying next to me. It happened to be a Fijian I know called Heather, who stopped dying for long enough to say: that’s where I came from, I cant believe you’re getting to go. I’m so jelous!

Finally someone gets how excited I am! I dont know if I’m the only one who is getting like this, but I was so impressed at finding someone who understood what a big deal this was to me that I had to share it!

i know the feeling ruth. The problem is that many people often feel uncomfortable about others they know heading off and doing something different, because it reflects on their own lives and what they’re not pushing themselves to do.

wait til you get back, it’s even harder as noone will understand. That doesn’t matter though, as they important thing to remember is that you’re doing it for yourself not your friends.

Looking forward to meeting you over here!
