Tribewanted: Vorovoro

This is my 3rd week as chief and I have lots to tell you. This week has been full of excitement asnd we have been very busy doing;

• Bed making for new vale accommodation
• Introduction of new chickens
• Preparing for Lovo
• Coconut jewellery

This week was a very big deal for everyone as Team Fiji who were visiting the UK were coming home. Everyone was very excited and Tui Mali insisted we had a Lovo for their return. Preparation for this was done by both Fijians and tribe, everyone was happy to help. Tui Mali donated as pig to us for the Lovo which was a great honour and plenty of other Fijian foods were prepared, including tasro leaves asnd cassava. Many emotional words were shared and the tribe presented the monkey meke to Team Fiji. The tribe had an amazing day and joined in with singing and playing of drums. Team Fiji left later on in the evening and were all so tired from their epic 24 hour journey they had just done. They were happy to be home with their families and will return to Vorovoro in a week or so.

Also this week we gained some new members of the team in the form of chickens. Chuck our sustainability manager brought 5 chickens with him, which now have a lovely new home here on Vorovoro. You will all be happy to hear that they are loving their new home and are settling into the Vorovoro lifestyle. They are o happy in fact that they have now laid 10+ eggs for the tribe to enjoy in their omlettes. ☺

Another important project that was completed this week was, one of our green water tanks had been leaking which resulted in missed opportunities of catching any rainfall. However the tank has been repaired and over the past few days we managed to catch a tremendous 2,000 litres of rain water woo hoo.
