Should, could, would you go back?

Bula fellow Tribe members! I’m planning my holidays for next year, and apart from the fact that the NZ dollar only buys 35p at the moment, making Vorovoro financially inaccessible to me, I have a philosophical question…
Can you go back to Vorovoro and have an excellent experience, or will you be forever thinking of the last time, how awesome the people were and how great it was and how the new people compare?
As with all things in life, I suppose it’s up to you as to how whether compare your experiences in life to past ones or approach each experience anew…I’m just wondering if it’s like any great holiday – it’s awesome while it lasts, but you can’t revisit it/recreate it.
I would really like to hear comments from people who have gone back…it probably won’t affect my decision as I am DEFINITELY going back if I get the exchange rates to move through sheer force of positive thinking…but would like to hear from you all the same :o)
peace
Hannah

I originally went in Aug/Sept 2007 and returned in October this year.
I thought a lot about whether I should go back or not – simply because I didn’t want to have a crap time and spend three weeks wishing I was elsewhere.
I did feel as though I spent the first week saying “it wasn’t like this last year” but then I stopped comparing things.
A lot of things had changed but I think as long as you go with your eyes wide open and not expect it to be the same expereince then you will enjoy it.
I enjoyed my second trip. Not as much as my first, but it was good. I’m not planning to go back again though.
It is different. It won’t be the same as the people are different and the teams are different. That seems like a given but I found myself waiting for the old gang to show up. There isn’t the rush of arriving there for the first time. But it is a great experience walking down the street in Labasa with lots of “bulas” like you never left. As long as you recognize it will be different I think you will have a great new experience on the same island. Just be open to new people, maybe things being run a bit differently, but since you know the tribe you can pick-up right where you left off chatting with everyone, and you can get stuck into bigger projects you think up since you are already familiar with island life.
I was glad I went back a second time (different also bc I was chief then) but it was a great experience. I would love to go back a third time so I could just work in the gardens and chat with the team all day long without any responsibility!
:)
i always thought that the best thing about the island was that it was always evolving. No one week was ever the same which combined with a fresh influx of people all the time meant that the experience would always be different. Of the few people that came back in the time i was there i think it would be fair to say that they had very differing experiences.
To come back again gives you the chance to know what areas of the island you like best and throw yourself into them without any need to orientate yourself. Combine that with ffresh people and a naturally evolved project and it’s unlikely there’d be much ‘risk’ in going back.
Not to mention you get to hang out with Pupu and Crimestopper again….........
I am thinking the exact same thing this very second. this is why we ALLLLL need to go back at the same time!!!!! damn this university malarky xxxxxx
ps. i would actually cut off my arms to have a wee chill with team fiji again
