The Sea on Our Skin
As many of you know I spent an insane amount of time on Vorovoro. My excuse for sitting on the beach for months on end was that I was writing a book. ‘Research’ is the best excuse I have ever come up with for spending masses amounts of time doing exactly what I want! But curiously the time I spent at the breakfast table after everyone had finished their porridge, until morning tea when you’d all arrive again with watermelon or cake, looking out at the sea, counting fishing boats, watching waves or just chatting to Poasa or Tale, did in fact result in a novel.
So, for those of you who asked me to tell you when/if it saw the light of day, the answer is now. It’s called The Sea on Our Skin and it’s by me, Madeleine Tobert. http://www.bookdepository.com/Sea-on-Our-Skin-Madeleine-Tobert/9781444734119?b=-3&t=-20#Fulldescription-20
For those of you who don’t know me, you might recognise little touches of the island in those pages – a good reminder of Fiji while we wait for Vorovoro to be ready to welcome us back.
