Farmer’s journal May 26-30

Monday:

Began clearing out the tool shed. Lots of trash and tools that need maintenance. Will be building proper storage for materials once shed is cleared. Fixed dinning table lights in the afternoon and typed up notes from meeting with giles. Played chess. Adam won but it was a great game.

Tuesday:

Four peaks challenge. Noticed a few wild edible plants growing and some interesting green crystals in the rock. Lots of large pieces of driftwood on the eastern tip. Lots of the large clam shells there too. Finnaly did my savusavu and asked to move into the sunflower hut.

Wednesday:
Led the early morning reef trip. Saw a morey eel, two spinny sea cucumbers, and a lobster. A bit rough from the high winds we’ve been having but fine once we were in the water. Walked around the plae with Marau and drew up a weekly and monthly safety/maintenance checklist for him. Held the sustainability forum.

Thursday:
Led another reef trip. Saw three sharks a large baracuda, morey eel, box jelly fish, and two new types of soft coral. Went to All Saints School in the afternoon for a celebration.

Friday:
Walked down to the western edge of the beach before breakfast and found some beautiful shells. Ram cracked his head on a sharp piece of bamboo and had a concussion and had to take him to the hospital. He was fine but was glad to be sure. Met Giles and his mom at the Grand Eastern. Got dressed up in the bark skirt again to serve kava to welcome Caroline (Giles’ mom)
