My name is Sosi and I work on Vorovoro in the sustainability department. I love my work because first of all I love meeting people and second I love sustainability work. Meeting new people to me it means learning new ideas. When new Tribe members come they teach new things and it expand my knowledge of the world which to me is something great and in turn I share my culture and tradition. I have always been proud my of traditional and cultural value because I think its unique in a special way. Teaching new tribe members the way we live our lives is not always easy. They come from a very fast track society and ours is slow and relaxed which they find unusual. When you talk about time in Fiji there is no time, you don’t have to worry about tomorrow there is always time for everything. In Vorovoro time goes really slow because we don’t really care about time. For example we drink grog whole night and when tomorrow comes we always start after 8 o’clock. Sometime I feel sorry for Giles when he has to come and wait for us at the meeting but I know he understands. For me work is work but anyway I hope things will change in the near future.

My work has always been mixed up. Sometimes I work with Marau, Leavi, Save or Tevita but I always go back to my sustainability work. At the moment, Mess, my sustainability manager is not here which means loads of work for me but I always find time to go and work with the above individuals whenever they need help. I used to work in Nadi for a cruiser liner. When I compare it with Vorovoro I think Vorovoro is a million times better because in so many ways money is saved personally but money is not everything. The other thing is I have come to learn so many more things about my culture and tradition which is good for me as a Fijian. I took part in meke for the first in my life when I came to Vorovoro. I wasn’t even sure of how it was going to be done. I have been working for 6 months now and i have never regretted any minute of it. There are some special people I want mention who have left a piece of them with me. Tom ,Rob, Madeleine and Amee you will always stay in my heart forever. Guys you make me not want to leave Vorovoro .

Jim who was the chief of march established a new society. We call ourselves the Hammock Society because when you come to Vorovoro forget about workout because you can chill out. I want to salute all the members who are here and those who have already left . Andy, Chris, Angel, Kelly, Gilly and Andy Luckman you guys rock. Although I don’t use the hammock most of the time because of work, I am still the interim president of the society until Jim comes back. I think that workout is bad for health but don’t believe it because that’s only from me. So if you come to Vorovoro or you are coming back do join us you will never regret it.
